The number of complaints about domestic violence in Ukraine is increasing: in 10 months of 2023, as many were registered as in the entire year of 2022

During 10 months of this year, the National Police of Ukraine received 244,000 complaints about cases of domestic violence, of which almost 77% came from women. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Kateryna Pavlichenko.

According to her, about 20% of appeals were registered by men, and the rest - from children. Pavlichenko noted the increase in the number of appeals by men, but noted that the police respond to these calls by bringing offenders to justice.

At the opening of the "Acting for survivors" race for the annual international action "16 days of activism against violence" in Irpen, Kyiv region, she also emphasized that, despite the occupation and departure of many Ukrainians abroad, the number of complaints about domestic violence continues to grow.

According to the data of the Kyiv City Center for Gender Equality, Prevention and Combating Violence, the hotline of the CMC received 4,324 calls regarding domestic violence in 2023, which is almost 67% more than in the entire previous year. Since the beginning of 2023, the center's mobile teams have provided more than two thousand consultations related to domestic violence, and 263 people have been in places of temporary safe accommodation.
