Zelensky and Erdogan started negotiations in Ankara

On Thursday, May 15, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Ankara for an official meeting with Turkish President Recep Taiip Erdogan. The leaders of the two countries have negotiated in the presidential complex of the capital of Turkey. The meeting takes place against the background of exacerbation of the security situation in Ukraine and the intensification of diplomatic efforts to terminate the fighting.

Zelensky met Erdogan at the entrance to the complex. After the solemn part of the party, they moved to closed negotiations. The meeting was also attended by Turkish National Defense Minister Yashar Guler, Director of the National Intelligence Organization Ibrahim Kalin and Chief Advisor to the President on Foreign Policy and Security Akif Chagatai Kilich.

According to Anadolu, the main topic of negotiations was the situation in Ukraine in the context of a full -scale war with Russia. Erdogan was expected to emphasize the importance of the immediate ceasefire and the beginning of peaceful dialogue during the negotiations.

Upon completion of bilateral negotiations, an interselegation working dinner is planned, during which the parties will continue to discuss the security, humanitarian and economic situation.
