President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky commented on Russia's proposal to exchange prisoners in 175 to 175, voiced during a telephone conversation by US President Donald Trump and dictator Vladimir Putin. He stated this at a briefing on the evening of March 18, Ukrinform reports.
Zelensky noted that this exchange was prepared in advance, and it was informed of it from the Security Service of Ukraine and the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR). According to him, the exchange of prisoners is a positive step for Ukraine.
“I knew about this exchange - both from the Security Service and the GUR, I got this information. It is a predetermined exchange, but in any case, exchanges are great for Ukraine, ”Zelensky said.
The President of Ukraine also stressed that the return of prisoners demonstrates the desire to complete the war. He stressed that the released military need help, rehabilitation and medical treatment, as many of them have serious injuries.
“To give all prisoners, I think it is to demonstrate the will, a desire for the end of the war. Because captives, boys and girls who have been sitting there for years ... You do not have to be afraid. We are adequate people. We will not send them again to the front. They need help, medicine, someone needs rehab. There are people with very serious injuries. Therefore, I think that (such a step) is to really demonstrate the desire for the end of the war, ”Zelensky said.
