Zelensky approved the appointment of new ambassadors

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has agreed the appointment of more than 30 new ambassadors, which testifies to the large -scale updating of the country's diplomatic corps. According to the President, these decisions were made together with the diplomatic team of Ukraine.

“I agreed more than 30 decisions, including: Nariman Jalal - Turkey, Alona Hetmanchuk - a representative of Ukraine in NATO, Andriy Melnyk - a representative of Ukraine in the UN. These and other decrees - soon, according to diplomatic procedures, ”Zelensky said.

  • Nariman Jalal will become the ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey. He is the deputy chairman of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people and was released from Russian captivity in June 2024. This position became vacant after the transfer of the previous ambassador Vasyl Bodnar to a diplomatic mission to Poland this fall.
  • Alona Hetmanchuk will hold the position of Ukraine's representative in NATO. She is the director of the New Europe Center and an associated senior analytics of the US Atlantic Council. Her predecessor, Natalia Galibarenko, has been working in this position since July 2021.
  • Andriy Melnyk , the former Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany, and now the Ambassador to Brazil will represent Ukraine in the United Nations. The current permanent representative of Ukraine to the UN Sergey Kyslyts was appointed in December 2019.
