President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has explained the initiative on mineral minerals, emphasizing that although Ukraine has resources estimated at trillions of dollars, it does not mean that they will be transferred even to strategic partners. In an interview for Reuters, published on February 8, he stressed that it was about development and investment partnership.
Zelensky noted that Ukraine is ready to cooperate with international partners, but only on the conditions of joint development and benefits. "Invest money, invest, let's develop it together, make money," the President emphasized, adding that the main aspect is the security of the Western world and Europe, so that resources do not fall into the hands of Russia and its allies.
Currently, Russia controls less than 20% of the territory of Ukraine, and according to Zelensky, this does not mean that the Russians have seized the same share of minerals. The President also emphasized the importance of protecting these resources that are the country's strategic property.
Zelensky noted that many minerals are concentrated in the Dnieper, Central and Western Ukraine. He also mentioned the loss of coal as a result of Russian aggression, but noted that Russia also suffered losses due to problems with mines and flooding.
