On the night of May 31, in the sun recorded the strongest plasma release from the beginning of the year, directed directly towards the Earth. This was reported in the laboratory of solar astronomy of the Institute of Space Research and the Institute of Solar-Earth Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
A powerful M8.2 solar outbreak occurred at 03:05 in Kiev time in the active region №4100, which is located almost in the center of the visible solar disk. This means that the release of the solar matter will inevitably reach the Earth, because the trajectory of distribution is completely coinciding with the direction on our planet.
According to preliminary forecasts, plasma arrival is expected on the evening of June 1. Experts predict that this can cause a series of powerful magnetic storms, with peak values to G4 level. This level of geomagnetic activity can have tangible consequences - from the failure of satellites and communication to the impact on the health of sensitive people.
Although the power of this emission is inferior to the events of May 2024, which caused a storm of G5, this event is already considered the most significant in 2025.
Scientists emphasize that such phenomena are part of the 11-year cycle of solar activity, which is now approaching their peak. New severe outbreaks and coronal emissions are possible in the coming months.
