An ancient Mayan road 18 kilometers long has been found in Mexico

Archaeologists from the National Institute of Anthropology and History (Inah) in Mexico have made a fascinating discovery - they found an ancient May road 18 kilometers known as Sakbe. This road brings together two important cities of Mayan's civilization - Ushmal and Kabakh, located in the pubs in the Yucatan west.

Sakbe, which translates from the Yucatan language, as a "white path" is not only a regular road, but also a paved highway that connects temples, areas and groups of structures in ceremonial centers, and serves as a link between different cities. The opening of this road was made possible by using Lidar technology, which made it possible to create a detailed 3D landscape card.

The width of Sakbe is 5 meters, and at each end there are monumental arches that emphasize the importance and grandeur of this road in ancient times. Researchers believe that Sakbe symbolizes close relationships and interaction between the peoples of Ushmal and Kabach in the period from 700 to 950 AD.

Cities Ushmal and Kabakh are striking with the similarity of architectural styles known as the Maya Pui style style, with characteristic elements, such as interconnected two -headed snakes, symbolizing the god of the rain Chaak. This archaeological discovery reveals a new view of history and cultural interactions between these ancient cities, providing valuable information about urban planning, social ties and general artistic and religious traditions of that time.
