An increase in military levy by 3.7 times

In the first quarter of 2025, a record 34.1 billion hryvnias from the military fee was received, which is 3.7 times more than in the same period of 2024. This indicates a significant improvement in the financing of the country's defense needs and the success of the tax collection system, despite the difficult conditions of war.

This was reported on April 18 by the Head of the State Tax Service of Ukraine Ruslan Kravchenko on his Facebook page. According to him, this year a lot more money was received for the military levy than in the previous year, when the amount was only UAH 9.3 billion in the first three months of 2024.

The largest contribution to the growth of revenues made the capital and large industrial regions of Ukraine. Kyiv, as the main economic center of the country, is leading among the regions of UAH 11.3 billion, which is a considerable part of total revenues. This confirms the high level of economic activity in the capital, despite the difficult conditions of war.

The second largest payer of the military levy is the Dnipropetrovsk region, which has transferred UAH 3.9 billion. Dnepropetrovsk, as one of the largest industrial centers of the country, actively supports the economy, which is an important factor for the stability of the national budget.

The Lviv region, which is traditionally an important economic and logistics hub of Western Ukraine, has also significantly increased its contributions, transferring UAH 2.5 billion. Kharkiv region, despite its proximity to hostilities, demonstrates sustainable economic development, paying UAH 2.2 billion.

In general, military levy is one of the main sources of funding for defense expenses in Ukraine. These funds are directed to support the army, the purchase of the necessary equipment, as well as to ensure the functioning of the Armed Forces in difficult conditions of war. Increasing revenues from this collection is an important signal of economic stability in the regions, despite complex foreign economic circumstances and continuous fighting in the east of the country.

According to experts, the increase in collection is the result of stabilization of the economic situation in Ukraine after the initial difficulties, as well as the effective work of the tax authorities. At the same time, increasing revenues from military collection demonstrates a high level of patriotism and the willingness of Ukrainians to participate in the financial support of the state in war.

Regional features also reflect the situation in places where economic activity depends on the situation on the front and local conditions. Increasing revenues from industrial regions, such as Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv, indicates that the economy in these regions continues to work even in a tense situation.

This financial success is an important step for Ukraine, which continues its struggle for sovereignty and independence. The increase in collection helps to provide the necessary resources for the defense industry and the armed forces of the country, which is critical against the background of war with Russia.

Public authorities promise to continue to work on optimizing tax fees and improving the financial management system to ensure the stability and development of the economy in war.
