Andriy Shevchenko did not go to UEFA Executive Committee

The President of the Ukrainian Football Association Andriy Shevchenko was unable to get a place in the UEFA Executive Committee on the results of the elections held on April 3 in Belgrade during the Congress of the European Football Organization. This means that in the next two years Ukraine will not have the right to vote in the governing body of European football.

Shevchenko was one of five candidates for two vacancies in the executive committee, but only fourth place. As a result of the voting, the victory was won by Spain representative Luzan Abal Rafael and Moshe Zuarez from Israel. They received enough votes to enter the executive committee.

The UAF chairman was supported by only 15 associations, while 39 voted against his candidacy. This has become a serious blow to Ukraine's positions in European football, since the loss of representation in the executive committee means a limited impact on decision -making on important football issues on the continent.

Shevchenko's failure in the elections may be associated with general instability in the UAF leadership, in particular after the scandals that accompanied the Ukrainian Federation. Earlier, it became known about the financial abuse of the ex-President of the UAF and his escape abroad, which could have affected the reputation of the organization in football circles.

Despite the failure, Shevchenko will continue to manage the Ukrainian Football Association and look for ways to restore the country's representation in European football structures.
