More than 113,000 people, including 39,922 children, were evacuated due to large-scale floods observed in 8 regions of Kazakhstan, especially in the west and north of the country. Currently, a state of emergency has been declared in eight regions of the country. The reason for this is the record water levels, which, in particular, are caused by a significant amount of snow.
Akim of the city of Uralsk, Mirzhan Satkanov, called on local residents to evacuate, warning of an approaching wave of water from the Iriklin reservoir in Russia. Such measures have already been adopted by departments to prevent the risk of fires and save people's lives.
In Petropavlovsk, the situation is most critical, with transport highways flooded. The President of Kazakhstan has already visited the region to assess the extent of the damage and provide assistance.
A significant amount of equipment has already been transported by rail from various stations to deal with the effects of the flood, including bulldozers, tractors and other specialized equipment.
Experts emphasize that the amount of precipitation and snow this year was much higher than normal, which affects the strength and scale of the flood.
