France President Emmanuel Macron has announced the provision of modernized Mirage 2000-5 fighters to Ukraine in order to strengthen the defense capability and protect its territory and airspace. In a speech in front of the French media, he noted that Ukrainian pilots would be able to undergo training in France to re -equipment Miraage before the end of 2024. The President said that the specific number of aircraft that will be transferred to Ukraine is not called. In addition, Macron pledged to prepare 4,500 Ukrainian military in France. He also confirmed his willingness to send French instructors to Ukraine, but noted that this did not involve training in the war zone, and stressed that this step would not mean escalation of the conflict.
According to Forbes, the Miage aircraft supply agreement was concluded after a few months of negotiations.
The Miage 2000, which has been armed with the French army since the 1980s, is a multi-purpose fighter. Its design is very similar to the F-16, which was adopted by the United States five years before Miraage.
President Macron emphasized that Ukraine will receive the Miraage 2000-5 upgraded fighter jets, specifically designed for air fighting, not old versions of Miraage 2000C or Miage 2000D.
All variants of these aircraft have almost identical design and basic characteristics: a tailed delta, one engine, a multi -mode radar on a nasal part and a supersonic speed, indicates forbes. The French Miraage 2000 is gradually replaced by the newer Rafale models.
Miraage 2000-5 aircraft that will be put in Ukraine are considered to be one of the best in the 1990s.
"This type of aircraft is designed for air defense, and pilots that fly on them specialize in this," - explained Colonel Ann Labadi from the French Air Force in an interview with Combat Aircraft.
She also noted that when Miraage 2000 is availability in Ukraine, they would have been used to confront Russian SU fighter fighter jets, who carry out air strikes in Ukrainian military and civilian populations with the help of thousands of managed airbugs.
According to Aviationist, the integration of a new aircraft requires detailed planning and coordination, as several problems need to be resolved.
First, it concerns training: pilots and technical staff need to be seriously trained to get acquainted with avionic, weapons, sensors and new aircraft. This learning process can be complicated, costly and long.
However, since some of the Ukrainian pilots are already trained in France, this problem can be softened.
Infrastructure will probably not need modifications such as hangars and maintenance facilities, but you will need to integrate a new aircraft into existing supply chains.
France plans to support Ukraine with a large number of spare parts, which will also facilitate the situation.
Meanwhile, it is necessary to make Miraage 2000-5 compatible with other types of vessels that are already in service with the Ukrainian Air Force. However, given the fact that the Air Force of Ukraine has already successfully integrated Nativa weapons into Soviet Su-27 and MiG-29, this can be solved.
According to the publication, the Miage 2000-5 aircraft, as well as the F-16 that Ukraine will receive, do not revolutionize the rules of the Air War, but will undoubtedly enrich the arsenal of the fourth generation of aircraft.
Miage 2000-5 is marked by good maneuverability, modern avionic, radar systems and radio-electronic fighting complexes, which increases its combat capabilities. These fighters can also use a wide range of bomb and rocket weapons.
It is important to note that Ukraine will receive support from France in the amount of 650 million euros in the form of loans and grants to support local authorities and critical infrastructure, including energy, which is constantly amenable to Russian attacks.
On Friday, June 7, negotiations between Emmanuel Macron and President Zelensky are planned in Paris, which expected to sign two agreements concerning the financial support and speech of Vladimir Zelensky at the National Assembly of France.
