Many countries intensify tourists, and Greece is no exception. However, it is noted that the Greek government has decided not only to increase the residence tax, but also gave it a more noble name - "payment for resistance to climate change". According to the Greek press, this initiative will come into force on January 1, 2024.
According to the new law, tourists will be obliged to pay much higher amounts for "stability" in the high season - from March to October. The previous rate of 1.5 euros per room will increase to 10 euros. In the "non -season", which lasts from November to March, payment for the room will rise from 0.5 euros to 4 euros.
The Greek authorities also decided to combat illegal short -term rent. Those who do not register with a government online rental register for a period of less than 60 days should pay a fine of 50% of the gross income of the previous year, but not less than 5,000 euros. In addition, a short -term rent will be applied to 0.5% of income every night.
