Public opinion in Israel continues to be deployed against support for Ukraine

Israel should fight Iran's proxies, not help Ukraine fight Putin.

There are several arguments: the weakness of the West, the growing influence of Putin and the resources of Russia.

Rachel Avraham, a political analyst and director general of the Israel Diplomacy Center, believes that the West lacks the determination to fully support Ukraine:

"Today, Americans are too worried about what is happening with their border. Like the Europeans, they lack the courage to go and help Kyiv directly. Macron's statements are just rhetoric. I think France does not have the strength to stand up to Russia. The French learned this lesson after Napoleon tried to invade Russia. Macron's rhetoric is just propaganda. Ukraine needs full-scale help, but Biden does not have the courage to challenge such a power as Russia."

The only real way out for the West is the beginning of negotiations with the Kremlin. According to an Israeli analyst, the Russian president is flexible enough to conclude an agreement with the United States:

"Even if the United States does not like Putin, there is one thing that distinguishes him from the same Ayatollah - that he can be talked to. He values his life more than anything else. And he is not ready to sacrifice his people the way the Iranians do. He wants to live and rule Russia, he wants the Russian people to live."

As for the Middle East, here Moscow also remains a preferred negotiator for Israel:

"Russia could play a mediating role, it is possible. We should not negotiate directly with Iran's proxies, but I think we should have very good relations with Russia."
