At the Security Security Forum at the Security Forum in Colorado, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced significant shifts in Iran's nuclear ambitions. According to him, in early August, Iran can achieve the ability to break down the material needed to create nuclear weapons. However, Tehran has not yet developed nuclear weapons.
Blinken stressed that this became possible due to the collapse of the "nuclear agreement" with Tehran. The latter actively increases its potential in the production of splitting materials. "Instead of being at least a year from a breakthrough in the production of nuclear weapons material, Iran is now only a week or two from it," the US Secretary of State said.
Although Tehran has not yet produced nuclear weapons, the situation is alarming in the international arena. The Chairman of the Joint Committee of US Chiefs of Staff Charles Brown noted that the United States has several options for these threats and ready for any scenarios.
This information confirms the warning made in May 2023 by the Minister of Defense of Israel Joava Hallant, who declared Iran's accumulation of sufficient split material to create five nuclear bombs.
In addition, in January 2024, American physicist and former UN inspector David Albright warned that Iran can get enough uranium to manufacture up to 12 nuclear bombs this summer.
The situation with Iran's nuclear ambitions continues to remain one of the main issues of international security. Instability in this region and the possibility of expanding the nuclear potential of Tehran can have serious consequences for global stability.
