Ireland is considering reducing benefits for new Ukrainian refugees

Ireland is considering reducing payments and benefits for new Ukrainian refugees due to the increase in the number of newcomers to the country. The plans of this initiative will be considered at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on December 11 and full of the government on December 12.

The Minister of Integration, Roderik O'Gorman, offers a reduction in payments and restrictions on free housing for new Ukrainian refugees. In particular, a decrease in weekly payments from 220 euros to 38.80 euros for asylum seekers is considered. It is also planned to provide free housing for 90 days, after which it is recommended to provide the home yourself.

It is important to note that the proposed changes will not apply to those 100,000 Ukrainian refugees who have already received asylum status in Ireland. The changes will only affect those who will arrive in the future.

This initiative arose in the context of increasing tensions at the border and the desire to control the flow of refugees entering the country. The feasibility and implementation of changes will be discussed at a government meeting, and further development should be monitored in the context of the international migration situation and the conditions of a particular country.
