On October 26, Israel made air strikes on military facilities in the territory of Iran, destroying three Russian anti-aircraft missile complexes C-300. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal, referring to the data of American and Israeli officials.
The C-300 anti-aircraft missile complexes, which are a key element of Iran's air defense system, were able to intercept several hundred rockets released under the attack, which participated in about one hundred Israeli combat aircraft. It is known that the three of the four complexes that Russia had put on Iran were destroyed during this operation, while the fourth was destroyed earlier.
According to the American Institute for War Study, one of the destroyed complexes was located near the Tehran Airport, and the other two other important objects of energy infrastructure, such as oil port, oil refining plant and natural gas field, were covered.
Analysts emphasize that the loss of C-300 leaves many important objects of Iran without protecting against rocket attacks. At the same time, the country is not able to obtain more modern C-400 anti-aircraft missile complexes from Russia, since Moscow is currently using all its reserves for fighting in Ukraine.
This incident emphasizes the exacerbation of tension in the region and indicates increasing threats to Iranian defense.
