Johannes Winkel called to deprive Ukrainian men of conscription age of their protection status in Germany

The chairman of the Junge Union of the German CDU/CSU Party Johannes Winkel has called for deprivation of Ukrainian men of conscript age of protection and state support in Germany.

Winkel noted that the support of Ukrainian women and their children with social payments is normal, but Ukrainian conscript men “should not be entitled to defense in Germany at all, but should protect their country.”

He also emphasized that giving Ukraine weapons, while depriving it of its own soldiers, is "frank cynicism."

Earlier, the chairman of the Bavarian opposition Party of the Christian and Social Union in the Bundestag Alexander Dobrindt urged to send the unemployed Ukrainian refugees to their homeland, criticizing the use of taxpayers' money for social assistance for them.

However, the German government against the deportation of Ukrainians who do not want to work and decided to keep payments to the unemployed Ukrainian refugees. This policy is aimed at rapid integration of Ukrainians into German society and providing them with the opportunity to work. The government official Steffen Hebestryt said that this position was consistent with the desire to integrate Ukrainians into the German labor market and to provide them with decent living conditions.
