At the Ukrainian Museum in Manhattan, New York, from this month until April 2024, visitors are greeted by a unique exhibition of works of art by Maria Pryimachenko.
Maria Prymachenko (1908-1997) is a self-taught Ukrainian artist who became a legend of her time. Her works, including large canvases, embroidery designs, ceramic paintings and early watercolors, impress with their unique imagination and vibrancy. Primachenko did not have an artistic education, but her works gained worldwide recognition due to the sincerity and originality of expression.
"When I saw how Russia destroyed the museum in Ivankov, where the paintings of Primachenko were stored, I could not forget it. I decided that Americans should get to know her work," Petro Doroshenko, director of the Ukrainian Museum in New York, told Ukrinform.
Maria Prymachenko remains a symbol of Ukrainian culture and art, and her works continue to inspire art fans around the world with their amazing originality and richness of imagination.
