The DPRK transferred additional troops to Russia, in particular to the Kursk region. According to Reuters, from January to February 2025 the DPRK sent to the Russian Federation up to three thousand servicemen. The information was provided by South Korean intelligence, noting that the exact number of the contingent remains unknown.
The movement of the military occurred with the help of Russian freight ships and military aircraft. The contingent includes motorized rifles, engineering and intelligence units that have not previously participated in hostilities in the Kursk region.
This information is concerned about the international community as it may indicate a deepening of military cooperation between the DPRK and Russia.
