Insects attack orbetllo

The Tuscan town of Orbetello was at the center of the ecological crisis through the mass invasion of Moshok, which paralyzed the lives of local residents and tourism business. The authorities have already allocated funds for the fight against insects, but residents require a state of emergency.

Millions of small insects have literally flooded orbetello-a nature reserve on the coast of Tuscany between the Tirrensky Sea and Monte Armantario. They began to be fixed three weeks ago, and during this time the situation only worsened. Residents accuse the midge of mass death of fish, especially fry. At the same time, fishermen claim that the fish dying out due to a decrease in oxygen levels in the lagoon ecosystem. The invasion of the midge is so large-scale that residents are forced to close the windows and sit at home, comparing the situation with Lockdow during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The local city hall has already allocated 300,000 euros for insect control. However, this may not be enough, so residents require a state of emergency from Tuscan to obtain additional funding and more prompt actions of the authorities.

If the situation does not change in the near future, Orbetello risks losing tourists and suffer serious economic losses.
