On December 12, the Ukrainian icebreaker "Noosphere" set off for the fourth Antarctic season. The ship left Cape Town, South Africa, and headed for the coast of Antarctica. This season promises to be full, as "Noosphere" will actively cooperate with international scientific programs and support research missions in the Antarctic.
In particular, the icebreaker will help Poland with the rotation of polar explorers and the delivery of cargo to the Artstovsky station, and will also conduct marine research in the Southern Ocean for the Palmer station (USA). In addition, Noosphere will support Spain by delivering cargo and performing research tasks for the Gabriel de Castilla station.
"Noosphere" pays special attention to the implementation of European Union projects within the framework of the "Horizon Europe" program. As part of these projects, the ship will carry out important scientific research, in particular in oceanography and the study of marine bacteria, which will contribute to the development of new knowledge about the environment.
