Biden signed a bill on financing the US government, after which he immediately began to "put pressure" on the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, to finally deal with the bill on foreign aid and the border, reports The Washington Times. The president reminded the speaker of the Senate's massive $95 billion foreign aid and border security package, which the Republican never brought up for a vote.
Earlier, the Speaker claimed that the House of Representatives would consider this issue as soon as the shutdown issue was resolved. Biden's signing of the $1.2 trillion funding package means "the beginning of the countdown to Johnson's decision," the publication notes.
The Republican has promised to tackle foreign aid and border security in April -- but what the House prepares could end up being markedly different from the Senate's proposal, WT warns.
