US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin had a conversation with his Israeli colleague Joava Galanto on the background of the start of a land surgery in Lebanon. Austin confirmed that the United States supports Israel's right to self -defense, emphasizing the importance of dismantling infrastructure, which could threaten the safety of Israel, in particular in the context of Livan's Hezbolla.
Austin's statement
"We agreed with the need to dismantle the infrastructure of the attack along the border to ensure that the Lebanese 'Hezbollah' will not be able to carry out attacks in the style of October 7 on the northern communities of Israel," Austin said in his statement in X.
Protection of American interests
Austin assured that the US is ready to protect US staff, partners and allies from the threats related to Iran and the terrorist organizations he supports. It is determined to prevent the expansion of conflict or the use of tension by either side. The Pentagon Head also warned of serious consequences for Iran in the event of a military attack on Israel.
Israeli actions in Lebanon
Earlier, Western media reported that Israel had informed the United States of intent to perform surgery in Lebanon to eliminate Hezbolla's infrastructure at the border. In the evening, it became known that Israel began a massive shelling of one of the border settlements, and the tile urged people to evacuate from dangerous areas.
