Postman-millionaire: The US is judged by a man who stole $ 1.6 million in mail

The 44-year-old mailman Hachikosel Muchimba will stand up to court after he was found guilty of large-scale fraud. For three years, he stole more than 100 checks of $ 1.6 million, spending money on expensive resorts, luxury hotels and entertainment in nightclubs.

Muchimba abused his post in the post office, intercepting checks that were sent to individuals. Mostly these were tax payments from the US Department of Finance. Using fraudulent methods, he erased the names of true recipients, entered his data and transferred funds to personal accounts. The thief did not deny himself a luxurious life. In July 2022, he rested at Bulgari Resort Bali, an exclusive resort with private villas and butties. The cost of living there starts from $ 1.3 thousand per night. In addition, he spent money on entertainment in strip clubs and expensive restaurants. The investigation began in January 2023, when one of the victims complained about the disappearance of the check. Police tracked transfers and found that the fraudster had used his real address to make banking operations. After a detailed analysis of his financial activity, law enforcement officers revealed the scheme and arrested Muchimbu.

The court found him guilty, the final sentence would be issued in August. He is threatened with long detention.
