Luxembourg continues to actively support Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression, directing significant financial resources to the purchase of weapons and participation in joint defense projects. Since February 2022, the country has allocated more than 200 million euros for the direct procurement of Ukrainian weapons, including drones, surveillance systems and electronic warfare (EW).
As Maria Mezentseva, deputy head of the committee on Ukraine's integration with the EU, noted, Luxembourg, for the first time in history, decided on direct financing for weapons purchases, which is a significant step for this small but wealthy country. In particular, another 80 million euros will be allocated for 2025 to further strengthen Ukraine's defense potential.
In addition to financial assistance, Luxembourg is actively working on joint defense projects. The country is involved in the development of satellite communication and the production of drones, in particular on its own territory. Luxembourg also became part of the IT cluster and the F-16 coalition, investing in the training of Ukrainian pilots for the effective use of Western technology.
Mezentseva emphasized that, despite the small size of the parliament, Luxembourg shows great courage by actively cooperating with the EU, NATO and Ukraine in the defense sphere. This testifies to the strong political will of the state in the context of its foreign policy and support for Ukraine in wartime conditions.
