The United States is preparing to transfer to Ukraine upgraded bombs of the distant radius of Glsdb (Ground-Launned Small Diameter Bombs), which have been updated for better counteraction to Russian electronic warfare. Re -introduction of GLSDB on the battlefield can take place in the coming days, since the stocks of these ammunition are already in Europe.
These weapons were purchased during the administration of the former US President Joe Biden as part of the Ukraine's security initiative. In general, the United States has purchased new weapons and military equipment for Kiev worth about $ 33.2 billion directly from the US defense contractors and allies.
Glsdb modernization involved increased internal weapons to increase its stability. In recent weeks, 19 such ammunition has been tested to evaluate the effectiveness of the changes made.
It is noted that earlier Russian gluthers have prevented many relatively new Ukrainian GLSDB for a long range. Currently, modernization must ensure a significant increase in the efficiency of these weapons.
GLSDB transmission occurs on the background of reports that the reserves of army tactical missile systems of similar range (ATACMS) in Ukraine are exhausted. Thus, GLSDB can temporarily replace ATACMS in fighting.
