The European Commissioner on Budget Affairs, Johannes Gan, visited Moldova and expressed an optimistic opinion on the possibility of starting negotiations on the country's accession to the European Union. Answering questions during his visit to Chisinau, he refrained from specific forecasts, but expressed the confidence that these negotiations would begin in the near future.
"There is a certain job that you still need to do, but I am convinced that it will be completed on time, and soon we will be able to go to real negotiations," Gan said.
As part of his visit, he also participated in the event dedicated to the Day of Europe, organized by the Moldova Government. Also, in the west, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has a conversation with Moldova President I have Sanda on joint action in the EU.
Separately, the President of the European Parliament Robert Metsola at a press conference in Kiev on Thursday made a forecast for the official start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU in June.
