Germany is ready to join the ceasefire agreement

Germany may become part of the ceasefire agreement between Russia and Ukraine, but it is too early to talk about a specific format of peacekeeping forces. This was stated by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, speaking to journalists in Berlin. He stressed that in the absence of negotiations and ceasefire, any decisions on military presence in Ukraine are premature.

"If there is a ceasefire, then, of course, the Western Community, NATO partners, UN potentially and the European Union will have to discuss how such a peaceful decision, such ceasefire can be secured. And, obviously, Germany, as the largest economy of Europe, will play an important role in this .

At the same time, the minister noted that it is difficult to determine the exact role of Germany in this process, since it will all depend on the ceasefire and the possible mandate of peacekeeping forces.

"There are many more questions now than answers. And that's why I can't give you an exhaustive answer," he added.

Pistorius's statement indicates that Germany is ready to actively involve the peace process, but it is necessary to wait for the situation and clear conditions for a peacekeeping mission, if any.
