Germany is ready to consider participating in a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine

German Foreign Minister Annalen BerbB declared Berlin's readiness to consider the departure of the Military Bundeswehr as part of an international peacekeeping mission to ensure a ceasefire regime after the end of the war in Ukraine. She told this in an interview with Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ).

According to Berbok, Russia's war against Ukraine has changed the approach to security in Europe.

"After Russia's attack on our neighbor, we cannot live in a rainbow world as before, and think that Americans will somehow understand us. It also means that when peace talks will take place, we will protect our own security in Europe," the minister said.

She emphasized that fair and prolonged peace could not be achieved through pseudodeships. The peacekeeping process requires the participation of key European partners, Ukraine, as well as other countries interested in the stability of the region.

"I look at different elements of stable peacekeeping with key European partners and Ukraine. The peacekeeping mission can also be an element that will, of course, require efforts from us, Europeans, and other partners," Berbb said.

She added that not only European allies of Ukraine but also countries outside Europe, in good relations with which the Kremlin are interested, would be an ideal option for a peacekeeping mission.
