The conclusion of the NATO summit for Ukraine – with weapons, but without membership

Ukraine leaves a NATO summit with an "irreversible" path to membership, former President Donald Trump wants to limit the exchange of intelligence with NATO if he returns to the White House, and the Allies seek to strengthen their capabilities in cybernetics and artificial intelligence, The Foreign Policy writes.

At the NATO summit, Ukraine got a lot - but not what she wanted. For several months before the summit, Ukraine and its most active supporters insisted that Kiev receives an official invitation to join NATO. Washington and Berlin destroyed these plans from the outset. Therefore, most of the work on Ukraine was reduced to collect comforting prizes for the country and fill in ancient gaps in her requests for military assistance, and then tie it all into a new large package of support.

Some of the new promises are important military assistance that can provide real support to Ukraine on the battlefield. Among them are new Patriots, F-16 fighters from Denmark and the Netherlands and even Mig-29 fighter squadrons from Poland. Baiden's administration also stated that she called the "bridge" in NATO's membership, which would include an increase in joint training programs, the creation of a new NATO team structure for coordinating military assistance coming to Ukraine, and the referral to Kiev with a new permanent alliance entertainer.

But several Alliance officials from Eastern Europe, although smiling in public, say they are disappointed that NATO could not do more - in particular, to send such a desirable official invitation to join the Alliance.
