In Lviv, law enforcement officers successfully thwarted an attempt to commit a crime, the purpose of which was to set fire to cars belonging to police and military personnel. According to the investigation, the criminal activity was coordinated by a prisoner who was in the Lviv penitentiary. According to preliminary information, he received the task from a person who introduced himself as a representative of the Russian criminal organization through messenger.
During the investigation, the law enforcement officers found out that the customer had promised the prisoner a significant reward for organizing the setting fire to several law enforcement vehicles. The prisoner agreed to the offer, found the executor and gave him detailed instructions on choosing objects for arson. In addition, he demanded to shoot a video of the crime scene for a report to the customer.
Operatives of the Department of Internal Security and investigators of the Lviv police, having operational information, took timely measures. They organized a special operation in which they staged an arson and collected the necessary evidence confirming the existence of a criminal scheme — from receiving the order to preparing the crime. The detained organizer of the crime has already been notified of suspicion. He is charged with an attempt to deliberately destroy property by arson, committed by a group of persons with a prior conspiracy, which is a violation of several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
This case once again emphasizes the importance of the operative work of law enforcement officers, who managed to prevent a serious threat and ensure the safety of citizens.
