President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who was on an official visit in Kiev. The main topic of negotiations was to discuss ways of achieving a just and long peace in a full -scale war that Russia is leading against Ukraine.
During the meeting, Zelensky expressed his gratitude to Turkey for the consistent support of Ukraine, in particular for diplomatic efforts and initiative to organize a direct dialogue between Ukrainian and Russian delegations. He noted the important role of Turkish President Recep Taiip Erdogan in the mediation process, as well as the support of the Turkish side within the limits of efforts to end the war and return to stability in the region.
The President stressed that Ukraine remains a committed diplomatic path of end of war and is ready for meaningful dialogue. At the same time, he drew attention to Russia's unwillingness to execute even basic agreements reached during previous contacts. In particular, the Russian side, despite its promises, did not provide any documents after exchange of prisoners, although it promised to pass the so -called memorandum in the near future. According to Zelensky, no official materials were received by the Turkish side, which is a manifestation of disrespect for the state that acts as a platform for negotiations.
In addition to the issues of the direct peace process, the parties also discussed the issues of increased international pressure on the Russian Federation. Zelensky stressed the need to strengthen sanctions against the aggressor to force the Kremlin to stop military aggression. He also emphasized that the Russian authorities should abandon the practice of imposing the world of their own conditions and move to the honest, open dialogue with respect for international law and sovereignty of other states.
The topics of regional security, humanitarian cooperation and economic cooperation were disrupted. The meeting showed the importance of the Turkish-Ukrainian partnership and confirmed the readiness of both parties to further cooperate to ensure peace and stability in the region.
Zelensky thanked Turkey for the support of Ukraine's territorial integrity, assistance in the return of prisoners, and for their assistance in the restoration of exports of Ukrainian grain within the “grain initiative”. According to the results of the meeting, an agreement was reached on further contacts and interaction at the level of diplomatic services of both countries.
