August 2024 became a real breakthrough for the Ukrainian car market, as more than 8.1 thousand new cars were registered during this month. This is a record indicator in the last 32 months, which indicates a significant increase in consumer activity. According to Ukravtopromy, compared to August 2023, the number of new cars sold has increased by 40%.
Market leaders
The unquestionable leader among the brands is the Japanese brand Toyota. During August, Ukrainians purchased 1,248 new cars of this brand, which provided Toyota first place in the new cars.
In second place is the French brand Renault, which added 738 new cars to the Ukrainian fleet. The three leaders are closed by the German BMW brand with a result of 633 cars sold.
Also, the top 5 of the most popular brands included ŠKODA, which sold 538 cars and Volkswagen with 483 new cars. It is especially worth noting the Renault Duster, which stored the title of bestseller of the moon - Ukrainians purchased 691 new car of this model.
It is worth noting that since the beginning of 2024, more than 47.3 thousand new cars have been registered in Ukraine, which is 24% more than the same period last year. This growth indicates the restoration of demand for new cars among Ukrainians after the difficult economic conditions of recent years.
Used cars: American and Chinese brands are gaining popularity
Equally interesting is the segment of used cars. In July 2024, Ukrainians purchased 6.2 thousand used cars under 5 years of age that were imported from abroad. At the same time, more than 4.1 thousand of them were from the United States, which is 21% of the total number of cars used, which in July switched to Ukrainian numbers.
An important trend in the market was the increase in demand for Chinese cars. In July 2024, almost 1.4 thousand cars imported from China were purchased, which is 52% more than July last year. Of these, 1121 the car was new and 261 used.
