Volodymyr Putin aims to establish Russian-American relations under conditions that are beneficial to Russia, with the arrival of US President Donald Trump, which has been stated at the Institute of War Study (ISW).
On November 7, Putin spoke at the annual meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club and spoke for a new restart of relations between Russia and the United States. He noted that Trump's presidential campaign allegedly expressed "the desire to restore relations with Russia and to contribute to the termination of the Ukrainian crisis."
According to ISW, these statements are another attempt by Putin to influence the US foreign policy. The Kremlin is ready for restart, but solely provided that the US is abolished and stopped by Ukraine. However, in his statement, Putin did not mention that all sanctions and restrictions on the part of the event were imposed in response to Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
During his speech, Putin accused Washington of a relations with Russia, arguing that the United States had set sanctions themselves and decided to support Ukraine that allegedly harmed relations. However, Putin avoided the mention of the causes of these measures - the illegal invasion of Russia into Ukraine and the solution of a full -scale war, which violated the rules of international law.
