In Moscow, Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Serhiy Ryabkov said that the aggressor country should prepare for a long-term confrontation with the United States. According to Reuters, the war in Ukraine, which has been lasting for 2.5 years, has led to a serious exacerbation of relations between Russia and the West, which resembles conflicts of the Cold War, in particular, the Caribbean crisis in 1962.
Ryabkov stressed that Russia has no illusions about its relations with the United States, given the "two -party anti -Russian consensus" that prevails in Washington. He noted that Russia is ready for prolonged confrontation, determined and intends to send signals to warning to its opponent.
"We are ready for this in every sense. We send all signals to the warning to our enemy so that he does not underestimate our determination," Ryabkov said.
At the same time, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly urged Western allies to allow Ukraine to launch missiles of the far radius of action deep into Russia, which caused anxiety in the Kremlin. In response to these challenges, Ryabkov emphasized that Russia is ready for all possible scenarios.
The Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin also warned the event that Russia can use nuclear weapons in the event of attack by ordinary missiles. According to him, any attack on Russia, supported by a nuclear state, will be regarded as a "joint attack".
The history of the Cold War, which lasted from 1946 to 1991, is an example of a global confrontation between two socio-economic systems. Although the US and the USSR did not enter into direct military conflicts, their rivalry has led to local wars and military crises in different parts of the world.
The situation in Ukraine continues to exacerbate the tension between Russia and the West, and, according to analysts, can lead to a new stage of global confrontation.
