The Swedish government has made serious accusations against Russia, declaring "harmful intervention" in the work of three satellite networks Sirius. This statement has caused considerable resonance in the international community and has become a reason for serious discussions in the context of cybersecurity and geopolitical relations.
The Swedish Prime Minister ULF Kristerson said this in a comment to Bloomberg.
"These failures, of course, are serious and can be regarded as part of the broader hybrid actions of Russia against Sweden and other countries," Cristerson said.
The Kremlin -created obstacles touched three networks, located in the orbital position of 5 degrees of east longitude, the newspaper writes. This satellite position is one of the main ones serving the Scandinavian countries and countries of Eastern Europe, the newspaper writes.
Cristorson added that Sweden and other states are now working to "find the answer" on Moscow's actions. According to the prime minister, the failures also touched on TV in Ukraine, which depends on the target satellite belonging to the Swedish company, which he did not name.
The Swedish Mail and Telecommunications Department has appealed to the International Telecommunication Union to consider this situation, the agency reports. France, the Netherlands and Luxembourg addressed similar complaints to the International Telecommunication Union. Countries plan to discuss obstacles at the end of June.
On May 31, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and the Head of Sweden's Government ULF Kristerson, within the framework of the visit of the Ukrainian leader to Stockholm, signed an agreement on security cooperation.
