Two law enforcement officers who were the first to open fire on the participants in the Dignity Revolution on February 20, 2014 were identified by the investigation. One of them served as a commander of the company of the special unit "Berkut" of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the city of Sevastopol, and the other worked as a police officer in the same unit.
Both accusations were charged with exceeding power and official powers, the premeditated murder of three persons and an attempt to kill three more protests. The information was provided at the State Bureau of Investigation and the Prosecutor General's office.
According to the DBR, both law enforcement officers who began shooting people in the center of Kiev were identified as direct performers of mass executions of Maidan activists. The investigation found that on February 20, both suspects, acting on the order of senior officials, opened fire from the pump rifle Fort-500 on protesters near the pedestrian bridge at about 9 am. Their shots led to the death of at least three people and injured three more.
The investigation also confirmed that these events were the impetus for further assassinations of protests that took place using automatic and sniper weapons by other special units of Golden Eagle and the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
According to the OGPU, both suspects are charged with excess power and official powers, illegal obstruction of the organization and holding of meetings, rallies, street campaigns and demonstrations committed by an official with the use of physical violence, premeditated murder of three persons and assaults; h. 41, h.
For the commission of these crimes, the commander of Sevastopol "Golden Eagle" and his subordinate threatens imprisonment for a term of 10 to 15 years or life imprisonment.
