The military counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), with the support of the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, detained a 30-year-old serviceman who was an agent of Russian intelligence. The suspect who was serving in the security unit of the territorial center of acquisition and social support (TCC) prepared a new wave of air attacks of the Russian Federation on Volyn.
The investigation found that the man was remotely recruited by a military intelligence officer of Russia (GRU). The main task of the agent was to establish the locations of Ukrainian military units, the SBU and the National Police. Removing his actions for working trips, he went around the location in a service car and recorded the location of objects that were of interest to Russian intelligence. In addition, the agent was looking for radar stations and anti-aircraft missile complexes to help the enemy carry out attacks by bypassing the Ukrainian air defense system.
The attacker conveyed the information collected by the curator through an anonymous chat in the messenger. The counterintelligence of the SBU was able to expose and document the activities of the agent, as well as took additional measures to ensure safety at the location of the defense units.
As it became known, the agent was in the field of view of the Russian special services through his family ties in Russia and contacts with relatives who supported anti -Ukrainian views. Investigators of the SBU reported the detainee of suspicion of state treason in the conditions of martial law (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The attacker is threatened with life imprisonment with the confiscation of property.
