The SBU detained Russian agents who were looking for F-16 bases in Ukraine

The SBU's military counterintelligence has exposed and neutralized the agent network of the General Staff of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia (GRU), which interested in the positions of air defense and tried to identify secret military airfields where F-16 aircraft could be based. The intelligence service detained 12 Russian agents and their informants, including the former soldiers who were deserted from justice.

Agents who acted separately from each other were locked at the resident of the agent group who was in Dnipropetrovsk. For conspiracy he used counterfeit documents, such as "Volunteer Certificate" and "Anti-Corruption Activist". This resident involved his accomplices from different regions of Ukraine, including Zaporozhye, Kharkiv, Sumy, Mykolaiv and Odessa regions. The task of these cells was to intelligence of air defense locations and to find information about possible locations for F-16 base.

To obtain the necessary intelligence agents, agents used their acquaintances, in particular the Ukrainian soldiers who were in the frontal areas. Information received from agents was transmitted through a resident to his Russian curator. The SBU exposed the entire enemy cell in advance and detained its organizer and four key accomplices. During the searches, mobile phones, flash drives, military documents and counterfeit certificates were removed.

The detainees were suspected under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: state betrayal in the conditions of martial law (Part 2 of Article 111) and unauthorized dissemination of information about the movement, movement or location of the Armed Forces (Part 2 of Article 114-2). The attackers are threatened with a punishment of 8 years in prison to a lifelong confiscation of property.
