Microsoft continues to transform Windows 11, introducing new features and technologies, while giving up old components that no longer meet modern requirements. One of the last victims of this process was the legendary "Management Panel", which is now going on.
The Management Panel was first presented in Windows in 1985, becoming one of the main parts of the operating system. Over the years of its existence, it has become familiar and convenient for users, giving access to system settings, management tools and various features.
However, over time, the Management Panel began to give way to a new solution. The first warning about possible elimination appeared in 2011, when Microsoft presented Windows 8. Despite this, the Control Panel was stored in the following versions of Windows. Now, according to the last update on Microsoft support site, the company has announced the final farewell to this item in Windows 11.
Instead of "Control Panel", Microsoft recommends users to use the Settings app, which offers a more modern and optimized system to control the system. The Settings Appearances appeared with Windows 8 and with each new update is becoming more functional, providing convenient access to the settings without needing in the old control panel.
The company explains that the Management Panel still exists because of some specific settings that have not yet been transferred to the new application. However, soon these old functions will also be integrated into "parameters", completing the transition to the modern interface.
The "Control Panel" is not the only victim of Windows evolution. Earlier, Microsoft has already recognized obsolete utilities as Paint 3D and WordPad, and made changes to the Start menu. These solutions reflect the company's strategic approach to modernizing their software aimed at providing better user experience and integration of new technologies.
