A fine of up to UAH 2,720 for offensive messages of a sexual nature in messengers

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted a new law, which provides for penalties for sending offensive sexual reports to messengers. This law was adopted on May 22 and is part of a package of amendments to the Administrative Code aimed at implementing the provisions of the Istanbul Convention.

Thus, the Code of Administrative Offenses is supplemented with new articles 173-6 (committing sex on gender) and 173-7 (sexual harassment).

According to the new article 173-6, committing violence on the basis of gender, that is, the deliberate committing of any act (actions or omissions) of a physical, psychological or economic nature, directed against a particular person through its belonging to a particular sex or stereotypical perceptions damage) or the mental health of the victim - entails a fine of 1 700 to 3 400 UAH or a fine for sexual aggression, or a fine for sexual aggression, or a fine for sexual aggression, or a fine for sexual aggression, or a fine for sexual aggression, or a penalty for sex aggression, - the article reads.
