Switzerland plans to hold a global peace of the conflict in Ukraine in mid -June. It is expected that up to 100 countries will take part in the event.
The peacekeeping summit can take place on June 16-17. However, it is not known at this time how many leaders will participate in this event, as China's participation is the key issue.
According to Bloomberg, China is important for Switzerland as Bern seeks to deserve the summit. According to representatives of Ukraine, the presence of China at the meeting is important because Beijing affects Moscow.
It is noted that the Swiss Foreign Ministry keeps close contact with the global South countries, which can also play an important role in involving Russia in this process. Switzerland diplomats discuss cooperation with China, India, Brazil, South Africa and Saudi Arabia.
Regarding the place of the summit, according to Bloomberg, it can take place in the city of Lucerne, after holding four meetings of national security advisers in Ukraine. The last of these meetings took place in Davos early this year.
During the Global Peace Summit, which was proposed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during the G20 summit in November 2022, a discussion of peace formula for conflict stops in Ukraine is planned. Participation in the event is planned at the level of heads of state. This process includes more than 80 states and international institutions.
It is expected that the official announcement of the summit will arrive from the Cabinet of Ministers of Switzerland in the near future.
