According to ISW estimates, 13 kilometers of the bridge through the Kerch Strait are within the framework of internationally recognized territorial waters of Ukraine. The current US policy allows Ukraine to attack its missiles illegally built Crimean bridge. The report of the Institute of War Study (ISW), published on June 24, states: “The current US policy on the use of weapons provided by Ukraine allows Ukraine to strike anywhere in Russia occupied by Russia, which probably includes the use of high-range PTRCs for the extermination of the bridge.
ISW emphasizes that after the occupation of the Russian Federation, 13 kilometers of the bridge through the Kerch Strait are within the framework of internationally recognized territorial waters of Ukraine. Thus, the US policy on the use of Ukrainian PTRCs should technically allow Ukrainian troops to strike at least on the bridge, if not throughout the bridge.
Pentagon spokesman Major Charlie Ditz also stated on June 24 that "Ukraine is making its own targeting decisions and conducting its own military operations."
