The United States responds to the possible introduction of North Korean troops into Ukraine as a significant increase in the escalation of the conflict. This was stated by US State Department Matthew Miller, commenting on the death of North Korean soldiers located in the Kursk region of Russia.
Miller noted that the DPRK's troops who are involved in the fighting on the side of Russia are "legitimate goals" for the Defense Forces of Ukraine because they are combatants. The death of the North Korean military on the battlefield in the Kursk region was confirmed by the United States.
"If they cross the border with Ukraine, it will be considered an additional escalation by the Government of Russia, as well as by the North Korean Government," Miller stressed, emphasizing that any activity of North Korean troops in Ukraine will help to increase tensions in the region.
The US statement points to the serious concern of Washington about the participation of the DPRK in the war, as this could lead to even greater international isolation for Pyongyang and increase sanction pressure. In addition, the United States emphasizes that any military intervention of the DPRK will support Russia's aggression and will further expand the conflict.
