The United States has released more than 10,000 pages of new documents related to the murder of Robert F. Kennedy (RFC), including the notes of his killer Sirman Sirman. These documents were disclosed at the request of President Donald Trump after his release for the second term in 2025.
On June 5, 1968, Robert Kennedy was fatally wounded at Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. The killer was Sirhan Sirhan, who was convicted of murder of the first degree and served life imprisonment.
Among the released materials are photos of Sirman's handwritten notes, in which he wrote: "The RFC should die" and "the RFC should be killed." In November 18, 1968, he noted that his determination to eliminate Kennedy became obsession. Sirhan wrote: "I have no accurate plans yet, but soon I am composed of them." He also promised the support of communist Russia and China.
Sirhan previously mentioned that after Martin Luther King's murder in April 1968, he decided to kill Robert Kennedy. Additionally, the documents contain the testimony of people who knew Sirman. Some witnesses described him as "friendly and good", while others - as a thoughtful young man with deep political beliefs.
Interviews with tourists who visited Israel in May 1968 show that rumors about the future of Kennedy's murder began to walk before his death. People who were in Israel reported that they were told about the attempt that happened before it occurred in Los Angeles.
The US National Archives and Records have published 229 new files containing important documentation pages. Many of these files were previously inaccessible to the public and were stored in federal archives. These include new testimonies, photographs and interviews that can give new prospects for one of the most famous political killings in US history.
This discovery was the next step in investigating and documenting events that changed the course of US history.
