Against the background of exacerbation of the situation in the border areas of Ukraine and Russia, on May 5, an urgent evacuation of residents of several settlements on both sides of the state border was announced. Under threat is a fortune teller and Bilopillya in Sumy region, as well as the village of Glushkovo in the Kursk region of Russia.
The evacuation decision was made against the backdrop of reports of a new breakthrough of the Ukrainian defense forces into the territory of Kursk region. There is no official confirmation of this breakthrough on the Ukrainian side, but the intensity of shelling and the growth of tension in the region indicate a serious exacerbation.
Vasyl Khudyakov, the head of Glushkovo village, appealed to the population to temporarily leave the territory because of the "complication of the situation". The evacuation in the Russian village will be coordinated by the forces of the Army Reserve of Russia (Bars). The details of the situation are not disclosed, however, local public reports, explosions and equipment movement are distributed in local publications.
On the Ukrainian side, a similar statement was made by the head of Sumy district administration Mikhail Melnyk. According to him, residents of border cities of fortune tities and Bilopillya are urged to evacuate immediately to safer areas of the region. Special evacuation buses were organized for this purpose.
Both Ukrainian cities are located in close proximity to the border with Russia - in a direction where the activity of enemy DRGs, artillery shelling and drone attacks was repeatedly recorded.
The threat to civilians in the border is increasing every week. In recent months, the border areas of Sumy region have become the object of regular shelling from the territory of Russia, which forces the authorities to resort to preventive measures - such as evacuation, strengthening of defense and imposing restrictions on movement.
Now it is not known how many people have already used evacuation routes, but the local authorities asks not to delay the decision, as the situation can change quickly.
Official structures in Ukraine are still refrain from comments on the possible breakthrough of Ukrainian forces into the territory of Kurshchyna, which caused panic among the Russian military and local population.
