The mayor of Slavutych, Yuri Fomichev, announced its intention to completely switch to renewable energy sources. It is noted that the Power Slavutich strategic plan has already been developed, which provides for a 100% use of renewable energy sources and expected to be approved in the near future.
The mayor calls this plan realistic and points out that Slavutich is a single city in Ukraine, which is ready to make such significant changes. In particular, he notes that for Slavutich known as the "City of Atomics", energy efficiency is an important priority.
Despite the limited budget for city development, the city authorities are actively interacting with international partners. In 2023, the budget of Slavutych amounted to UAH 300 million, and thanks to international projects, another 417 million managed to attract.
Along with this, the city sells an ambitious project to create a mini-heat power plant (CHP) based on the use of wood as waste. The total cost of the project will exceed six million euros. This TPP will be used to provide electricity to critical infrastructure in case of complete power off, the event that the city has already experienced during a full -scale invasion. In March 2022, Slavutich was completely detached from the power supply within six days, and now the city authorities are actively looking for alternative ways of electricity, since the city depends entirely on gas.
