A fire broke out in the Palace of Versailles in France

On Tuesday, June 11, a fire broke out in the Palace of Versailles, located near Paris. According to Figaro, there are currently no casualties as a result of this incident.

The fire was noticed at 15:13 local time by workers who were working on the site where repair work was being carried out on the roof of the castle. The communication department of the Palace of Versailles confirmed that the fire broke out above the marble courtyard of the royal residence.

Emergency services and firefighters promptly arrived at the scene and have already localized the fire. People were evacuated from the building. Fortunately, the collections and other valuables of the palace remained undamaged, no one was injured, fire officials said. The causes of the fire are currently not disclosed.

Social media was flooded with videos of large plumes of smoke billowing from the building.
