In Kiev, as of May 14, 34 people were hospitalized due to the hepatitis A outbreak, of which 19 are children. This was reported at the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
The outbreak was recorded on May 9 in the Solomenskiy district of the capital. Since then, doctors have registered 48 cases of hepatitis A, 26 of which are children. 210 people have already been vaccinated for prevention: 192 children and 18 adults.
The CEO of the Kyiv City Center for Diseases Sergey Chumak reported that an epidemiological investigation was ongoing. To determine the source of infection, water samples from three educational establishments, shelters and two pump rooms in Solomenskiy district are taken.
Analyzes were carried out for bacteriological, chemical and virological parameters, in particular for the presence of hepatitis A. virus A. According to research, all samples meet the standards.
