In Frankfurt, a 37-year-old US citizen Martin D. was arrested, who is suspected of espionage in favor of China. According to the German Prosecutor's Office, a man worked as a civilian employee at a private company who provided services to the US Armed Forces in Germany, in particular at US military bases in Hessen.
The prosecutor's office suspects that Martin D. had been in contact with Chinese government agencies during the year and allegedly offered them confidential information about the activities of the US military in Germany. These actions are classified as espionage because the suspect agreed to work for foreign intelligence.
The fate of Martin D. will now be determined by the investigating judge of the Federal Court, who must make a decision to continue the pre -trial detention.
